The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is pleased to present, “The Most Mad Seas: Tales of Sail from Cape Horn and the Southern Ocean”, a lecture to be held on May 17 with local historian and author, Glenn Hening. The Roaring 40s, the Furious 50s, the Screaming 60s - the “most mad seas” of the Great Southern Ocean has been feared by mariners from Magellan and Drake up to today’s round-the-world racing sailors. Mr. Hening’s  presentation of their stories and facts researched for his epic novel “Waves of Warning” will be an exciting opportunity for the armchair adventurer to understand why the old salt told the young greenhorn, who hoped to see monster waves on their upcoming voyage around Cape Horn, “Son, you don’t want to see them.”

Speaker Series is a lecture series held every third Wednesday at the Channel Islands Maritime Museum. Refreshments are served at 6:30 pm and the lecture begins at 7:00 pm.
