Salty Dogs Brings Food to Water at the Channel Islands Harbor

Salty Dogs owner Eric Kenoss ready to deliver in his 17-foot Crestliner pontoon boat

Channel Islands Harbor water goers have a dining option right on the water every Saturday and Sunday starting Memorial Day Weekend.

Salty Dogs, the Harbor’s first on-the-water, food delivery vendor, will serve a steamed all-beef jumbo hot dog in a brat bun, dill pickle spear, a beverage, and a bag of Pirate’s Booty popcorn for $7. Condiment packages will also be available.

With a simple text or phone call to (805) 397-8116, Salty Dogs owner Eric Kenoss said he will deliver the meal in his 17-foot Crestliner pontoon boat to kayakers, paddle boarders, boaters, Harbor docks, and electric boaters from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. on weekends, weather permitting, through Labor Day.

Kenoss, a Silver Strand Beach resident and owner of Channel Islands Diving Service, said Salty Dogs had a soft launch last Fall to figure out logistics and get feedback from customers.

“We went out one day with 15 hotdogs and they were gone in 10 minutes,” Kenoss said. “Every day we were selling out. Everybody has been stoked.”

Kenoss said he hopes the community and visitors see his business as an asset.

“I’ve been around the Harbor for a lot of years and I feel a part of this community,” Kenoss said. “If this is just one more little thing we can put together that will help and be a part of this community, how much better is that? I’m just trying to be a part of something that is much bigger than me.”
