Paint Project at Fisherman’s Wharf Underway

Fisherman’s Wharf, a well-known commercial-retail center at the Channel Islands Harbor, is receiving a needed facelift. Fresh paint is currently being applied to the perimeter of the center’s buildings.

we’re gonna try to match the colors as

much as possible

repair some of the wood we can’t repair

everything it’s in too bad of shape

but at the very least it’s a it’s a

facelift for the fisherman’s wharf

there’s

we still have a lot of active businesses

here in fact come down

not only that the residents don’t drive

by and say wow

they got to do something there but as

importantly the businesses could say hey

we matter and the county is at least

doing something

by painting these facilities

Ventura County Harbor Department Director Mark Sandoval said the buildings at Fisherman’s Wharf haven’t been painted in at least a decade. The buildings weren’t painted because of the potential of a proposed development at the wharf. The proposed development didn’t move forward.

“We recognized that we have to improve Fisherman’s Wharf because it’s going to be around for a couple of years,” Director Sandoval said. “One of the necessities was to repaint it.”

The project, which includes painting and repairing some of the wood, will maintain the cape-cod style look of the buildings. The cost of the project is estimated to be $50,000.

“At the very least it’s a face lift for Fisherman’s Wharf,” Director Sandoval said. “We still have a lot of active businesses here and encourage people to come down and support them.”
