Museum Week Underway at Channel Islands Maritime Museum
Channel Islands Harbor residents and visitors are in for a treat this week. The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is offering a variety of special activities as part of its “Museum Week.” Festivities kicked off earlier this week, but there’s still plenty to do.
Here’s a rundown of the remaining activities at the Museum:
Wednesday, April 17, 7 p.m. – Speaker Series “Local Endangered Species & How to Protect Them,” by Ashley McConnell . Regular Museum Admission. Beverages available for purchase. Suggested ages 12 and up.
Thursday, April 18, 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. – Special FREE DAY at the Museum “Life of a Sailor” Live Presentation, knot tying and ship-in-a bottle demonstrations. All Ages welcome.
Friday, April 19, 5:30 p.m. – Movie Night Jules Verne’s “20,000 Leagues under the Sea.” Free popcorn and beverages and snacks available for purchase. Admission is $2 per adult, children and seniors free.
Saturday April 20 – Earth Day 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Ride a bike to the Museum and receive free admission. Live Music on the Patio from 1-3 p.m. All Ages welcome.
The Channel Islands Maritime Museum is open M/Th-Sat 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., Sunday noon – 4 p.m. and closed Tuesday and Wednesday for group tours and private member events, also, closed Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Day. Located in Oxnard’s Channel Islands Harbor at 3900 Bluefin Circle. Explore galleries full of rare and beautiful maritime paintings dating back to the 1600’s, more than sixty world-class models of historic ships, rotating thematic fine arts exhibitions, and interactive exhibits that encourage visitors to expand their horizons about everything maritime.
