2022 Fireworks by the Sea Will Not Take Place, Plenty of 4th of July Activities On Tap
The annual Fireworks by the Sea 4th of July event at the Channel Islands Harbor will not take place due to lack of funding, the Ventura County Harbor Department announced today.
This marks the third year in a row the fireworks show will not take place. In 2020 and 2021 it was shut down due to lack of funding and the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ventura County Harbor Department Director Michael Tripp said the fireworks show was traditionally funded by the Harbor Department and the City of Oxnard. However, budget shortfalls forced both agencies to eliminate funding for the event.
“We know there is a high demand for a seaside fireworks show at the Harbor, but we also need to be fiscally responsible,” Director Tripp said.

While the there will not be fireworks, there will be plenty of activities taking place.
