Public Invited to Channel Islands Harbor Community Visioning Workshop
The Ventura County Harbor Department is conducting a public visioning process for Harbor parcels on Victoria Avenue. Residents and stakeholders interested in participating in Channel Islands Harbor development are invited to attend the Community Visioning Workshop.
The workshop is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 29 at Pacific Corinthian Yacht Club, located at 2600 Harbor Blvd. in Oxnard.
Harbor Department Director Mark Sandoval said the visioning exercise, led by a professional consultant, will include parcels in the Harbor along Victoria Ave. which are on short-term leases and parcels which are not part of an approved plan. These parcels are located along Victoria Ave., south of Channel Islands Blvd. Because of the ongoing process regarding the proposed development of Fisherman’s Wharf, this parcel will not be included in the process.
Director Sandoval said the public visioning process is in concert with the Harbor Department’s newly adopted Planning and Development process, which was unveiled earlier this year at the Harbor Academy. The new Planning and Development process aims to include public inclusion from interested parties prior to any proposed development or redevelopment projects in the Harbor.
“The visioning process will help the Harbor Department ascertain ideas and concepts for these parcels, in an effort to ultimately improve the Harbor,” Director Sandoval said. “We look forward to gathering input from everyone who has passion for this great Harbor.”
